5 Great Bands to Listen While Outdoors

Music goes hand in hand with enjoying the great outdoors. From hiking to fishing or just laying on the beach, good tunes always make it better. Here are 5 of our favorites.

1) The Allman Betts Band

In 2017 at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco to honor the music and memory of founding Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and singer, Gregg Allman. Devon Allman & Duane Betts performed on that fateful night and the wheels started. After an amazing world tour together, hey called up their old friend Berry Duane Oakley, son of the Allman Brothers Band’s founding late bassist, Berry Oakley, and floated the idea of joining them.

The Allman Betts Band was born and the fans couldn't have been more excited. Down to the River, a Top-10 entry on several rock charts including Number One on iTunes Rock, released in June of ’19 was recorded at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studios completely live. We recommend you take a listen to Magnolia Road, Rivers Run and Autumn Breeze. Check out all their tour dates at https://www.allmanbettsband.com/tour/

2) Ozomatli

First time I saw Ozomatli live was in 2005 at Bonnaroo, what a great show that ended with the band marching out into the crowd. Ozo is a 6 piece latin/rock/hip hop band out of Los Angeles, CA. They are melting pot of amazing tunes that keep the party rolling. We recommend you checking out their debut album Ozomatli, Street Signs, Don't mess with the Dragon and their Live at the Fillmore album.

When people have asked me what do Ozomatli sound like I always say, take a walk on the beach and listen to all the different music coming from each group, thats Ozo. We added a few favorites to our Spotify playlist. Check out Ozomatli's tour dates at https://ozomatli.com/.

3) Samantha Fish

Samantha Fish comes out on stage like a bullet from a gun. Her vintage blonde hair pulls your eyes to attention and when she cranks up that guitar everything stops. Samantha is a ripping good guitarist and stand along side some heavy hitters. Her fun unique rocking style blends classic rock, blues and punk all together for some kick ass albums. One of our favorite tunes is Bulletproof, which we added to our playlist.

I Samantha play this live at a small club and she opened with Bulletproof. When she hit that first chorus the roof blew off. She is well known for her cigar box guitar solos and riffs. Be sure to check her out cause she is lighting the world on fire with her epic sound. Check out her tour dates at https://samanthafish.com/tour/

4) Buckcherry

1995 gave birth to the rock band Buckcherry founded by Josh Todd and Keith Nelson. Our two favorite albums are their debut Buckcherry and Time Bomb. Turn this music on and your ready for any adrenaline extreme sport. One of their most popular songs is Crazy Bitch off their 2005 hit album 15.

I think it's safe to say that Josh is won of the best rock frontmen to come onto the scene with the likes of Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots) and others.

5) Eric Church

If you haven't heard of Eric Church you must have been living under a rock for the last 15 years. He's released 7 studio albums since 2006 and even in 2020 won the coveted "Entertainer of the Year" at the 54th Annual Country Music Association Awards.

Some of our favorite tunes include "How 'Bout You", "Two Pink Lines", and "Guys Like Me". In 2011 Church's tune "Drink in My Hand" provided his first No.1 hit single. Church toured with Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts, with a great story of being let go from the tour for playing too long and too loud during his opening spot.
